While we are on the subject of SPF, I wanted to share a Top Tip with you.

Now back in the day, I didn’t have a clue about SPF. I had never had a holiday and it was something that really didn’t exist for me.
Five years after getting married, we eventually decided to have a honeymoon as it didn’t happen when we got married! Obviously, it had to be an exotic destination so off to Jamaica we went.
I even remember buying sun lotion. The reason I bought it was that my take on it was that it gave you a tan, and the lower the number the better the tan. So I packed an SPF4. Yes, I did just say that out loud!

Well after about a week in the sun my skin was in trouble! My décolleté was driving me insane. It was red, lumpy and sore. I was laying on a sun lounger with a towel or T-shirt over my chest, but I was still in agony. It really stressed me out.
Fast forward to 1996 and I was on my Clarins training. When we covered sun products I learnt so much. I learnt that my skin had gone into over drive due to intense sun exposure.
The one thing that I learnt on that day is what I want to share with you now, and have shared with every client throughout my career.
‘Start wearing your sun cream before you go on holiday’! The ingredients in the product prepare the skin cells for sun exposure. They wake them up and say ‘come on guys, wakey, wakey, the sun is coming out’!

I have never suffered this sensitivity again. To this day will apply sun cream to my décolleté days before I go on holiday to prepare my skin. As I have already said, I go for the higher SPF as well. Don’t let your skin burn. Cover up if you feel your skin getting hot.
Take care in the sun so you can always have fun.

I too used to suffer from the same thing, until it was brought to my attention that you should use it a few days before you go, and now I get no issues. As long as I don’t overdo it!
